Context and Introduction:
In an increasingly mutable world, especially in the fashion business, the retailers struggle to
perfect their planning capabilities and to adapt to any possible change in it. Create the most accurate merchandise financial plan, the perfect assortment and to evaluate the
performance of that plan is even-more requested nowadays. Currently there are solutions that help the retailer to create each one of those tasks, normally
with a lot of actions and steps that the planner needs to follow. But the demanding and modern
planner always seeks a product that allows him to do the same or even more in a faster manner with
less time consuming work. The life of a planner is changing. With the help of a modern planning solution, planning teams will
spend less time poring over a multitude of Excel sheets and more time on higher-level tasks,
including interacting with customers, interacting with internal colleagues, and focusing on the art
of retailing from the personal perspective of boots-on-the-ground in the store. Overnight batches and time consuming processes just don’t cut it anymore in fashion planning. With
the fashion planning solution, retailers will quickly change assortments in response to rapidly
shifting consumer preferences. The typical fashion planning workflow follows the following high level steps: - Merchandise Financial Planning - Assortment Planning - Item Planning Typically, the same planner needs to log into each one of those systems and perform their job,
making it not as flexible as they would prefer. By conceptualizing a lighter, more adaptable and flexible version of the core business processes and
implement them technically, it can make a huge impact on the retailer that aims for a more
versatile planning capability. Also, by using the fashion planning solution, with a rich graphic
capability, users can more intuitively mix and match products and drag text to select products the
way the costumer would. Goals: The goal of this project is, by taking advantage of the in house business and technical knowledge
provided by Wipro and some solutions that we made or conceptualize as well as the lead business
best practices, to: - Map the core business processes of the Assortment Planning applications - Map the core business processes of the Item Planning Application - Combine both processes using as base, the Predictive Application Server framework provided by
Wipro, into a single application The solution should follow the following high level steps: - Set up the looks (themes, assortment sets, etc.) - Cluster stores, based on historical data, location, climate, demographics, etc. - Plan the assortment visually (image based planning) - Identify number and type of styles to carry in each store (including the wedge population
automation) - Calculate number of options by cluster; assort each cluster and calculate total buy - Create buy plan - Evaluate assortment performance - Provide visibility into item performance and financial targets Innovation Aspects / Scientific Relevance: Create the basis to support a modern fashion-planning school of thought based on a flexible and
adaptable business processes. Related links: Working Plan: This project will have the duration of 9 months. During this period the candidate will have the
